Manhole accessories – any sewer well must be equipped with a manhole. This device is necessary in order to ensure the safety of people and vehicles, as well as prevent intruders from entering underground utilities. And an important component of any sewer hatch is its locking device.
A situation may also arise when, during the installation of the cover, the technology of its installation is violated. In this case, there may be observed twisting, falling out or destruction of the cover due to its loose fit to the body. This disadvantage can cause road accidents. In such cases, it is imperative to install a locking device on the sewer hatch.
There are several types of locking mechanisms on the modern market. There may be an option when the lock is installed only on the second cover, and the first remains unchanged. Most often, this type of protection is installed, since the locking cover is made of steel and a lock is installed precisely to protect underground utilities from the penetration of unauthorized persons.
Before buying a locking device, you need to understand the existing options, and then choose the one that suits the most. For example, sewer hatches are often equipped with a secret lock. This locking mechanism is performed using a flag connection of the body and a manhole cover. You can also find the option of a threaded connection, when there is already a bolt with a secret.
For the safety of descent into the sewer well, a sewer bracket is used, which is specially installed in the walls of the well. This device is installed directly during the manufacture of wall rings or already during their installation. The normative documents strictly indicate the distance that must be maintained between the brackets – no more than 300 mm. To protect the staple from corrosion, it is painted. Often, in already existing sewer wells, a situation arises when it is necessary to buy a sewer bracket. This may be due to the fact that the old elements are out of order and the attachment to the wall of the well no longer fulfills its functions.
