Components for the repair and installation of hydrants

Fire hydrants are an important part of a fire safety system. And each device has its own lifespan. Therefore, over time, situations arise when individual components or an entire device requires replacement. There are special organizations that not only manufacture parts, but also install and repair equipment.

This fire fighting equipment includes a hydrant head, a riser and a valve box. If necessary, all three components can be replaced, which can be purchased on request. Often, it is the head that is exposed to damage and wear, since it is used to connect fire hoses to the hydrant. During installation or replacement of components, the device is assembled entirely separately, and only then, already assembled, must be installed in place.

When we consider the structure of a fire hydrant, then most often we pay attention to its main components. Only for the correct functioning of the hydrant, it is necessary to monitor the work of other auxiliary elements. It is about such components of fire fighting equipment that we will talk about in this article.

Often a fire hydrant is installed with a fire hydrant. The installation of this equipment on the hydrant is provided by a brass nipple, on which a thread is specially made. The column is screwed onto this nipple, which is the connecting link between it and the hydrant.

Fire hydrant installation

When installing a fire hydrant on a stand, it is necessary to ensure a high-quality connection of components. And in this matter, it is the conical gasket for the hydrant that plays an important role, which not only ensures a good connection of the device to the base, but also prevents water leaks at the joints. With the help of a gasket, the flange connection is properly sealed, thereby ensuring the tightness of the system as a whole.

In most cases, installing a fire hydrant is not possible without first installing a stand. Only there are exceptions to each rule, and in the case of installing a hydrant without a stand, a special flange is used for the hydrant. This device can only be installed on steel pipes with diameters of at least 220 mm.

In the manufacture of stands, a welded flange for a hydrant is necessarily used, which is made of steel. Every single detail, even invisible at first glance, plays an important role in the overall fire extinguishing system. And only with the correct use of all equipment and the operation of each part separately, it is possible to ensure the high-quality operation of the entire system.
